In 1955, a group of Fontana firefighters decided that looking out for each other was worth organizing around. They called it the Fontana Firefighters Association.
Over the decades, as the department grew and merged – first into Central Valley Fire District, then into San Bernardino County Fire District– the association grew with it. New stations. New faces. Same idea.
SBCoFFA is what that original group handed down to us.
Members maintain a savings account through the association. And when life gets harder than a savings account can handle, the association has ways to help. You call a rep and we'll get it handled. Through partnerships and relationships, the association is ready to help. Privacy is also a priority, keeping sensitive topics confidential.
SBCoFFA has supported the Fontana Fire Museum, the restoration of historic apparatus from Fontana, Crest Forest, and San Bernardino City, and the dignity of our fallen through the Last Alarm Funeral Bell and funeral hose bed liner.
Each year we honor our retirees, organizing an annual luncheon and supporting other activities to keep our family connected.
Coming 2027 SBCoFFA is establishing a dedicated Line of Duty Death and Severe Injury Fund, along with scholarships for members’ children.
This association has always been handed down from one generation to the next. We intend to keep it that way.
We do not take lightly where we came from.
The SBCoFFA board is made up of active department employees who volunteer their time to keep this association running.
Also serving as the Association Secretary. Kenny White has been with County Fire for 16 years and currently serves as Fire Captain at Station 224 in San Bernardino. He shows up wherever he's needed, and he's excited to step into this new role. Having relied on the association himself in his own time of need, he's grateful for the chance to give back, so others can feel that same support when they need it most.
